About the Artist
Tanja Bos has lived in Washington, DC for many years, and currently resides in New York, but is originally from the Netherlands. She received her BFA from the Corcoran School of the Art and Design and has an MFA from the University of the Arts. Tanja was surrounded by art when growing up in Europe, and has been drawing and painting since early childhood. In previous years she has shown her paintings in galleries in Washington, DC and Rehoboth, DE. Current works are drawings that are ink on paper, and also sculptural work that are copper or steel and mixed media. The drawings are one of a kind, one drawing can take several months to complete.
“I am inspired by the abstraction of nature and obsessed with its infinite detail. Like looking through a microscope finding the details, I gravitate towards cell like or structural patterns. All pieces are imagined, I find the process of creating the details calming and almost meditative. Each contemporary piece of art is a one of a kind exploration of what is possible with scale, detail, pattern, and colour.”
